Video doorbell installation for safer, easier entries

Quick answer

A video doorbell lets someone see and talk to whoever is at the door from a phone, tablet or chime, without hurrying to the door. For older adults it means fewer rushed trips, fewer scams at the door, and an easy way for family or caregivers to check who came by. HandyMangum installs wired and battery video doorbells and keypad locks and sets them up with you.

Why a video doorbell helps

Hurrying to answer the door is a common fall risk, and so is a door answered to a stranger. A video doorbell lets someone answer from a chair, ignore a stranger safely, and lets a caregiver with a key code in without a spare key under the mat.

Battery models mount anywhere. Wired models use your existing doorbell wiring and transformer, which we check for the right power.

  • People who move slowly or use a walker
  • Family members who live out of town
  • Caregivers and home health visitors
  • Anyone worried about door-to-door scams
  • People with hearing loss, using a visual chime

Good to know

  • Video doorbells need decent Wi-Fi at the front door; we check before mounting.
  • Some HOAs and rentals have rules on cameras; check first.
  • If the doorbell transformer is too weak, it needs replacing. If any part of the job needs a permit or a state-licensed trade, such as new plumbing lines or new wiring, we tell you during the quote and that part is handled by properly licensed professionals.

Video Doorbells FAQs

Are video doorbells good for elderly people?

Yes, for many. They can see and talk to visitors without hurrying to the door, and family can check who came by.

Do I need a smartphone?

It helps, but you can add a plug-in chime or a small screen inside, and family can get the phone alerts.

Can you install a doorbell I already bought?

Yes. We install and set up most major brands.

Wired or battery?

Wired if you have working doorbell wiring; battery if you do not or the door has no wiring.
